~To Learn and Love the Art of Dance~

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of our studio is to offer movement opportunities for all ages in a positive environment, as well as instilling a passion for the art of dance and movement.  Above all, we (as a faculty) are fully aware of our dramatic impact on the development of each dancer's self-esteem and personal growth, and responsibly to present ourselves as positive and effective role models for our school.

WHERE WE DANCE

The Studio

Dance Gallery has a professional atmosphere, with a unique "New York dance studio" feel.  There are now SIX dance studios well-equipped with state of the art sound systems, constructed sprung floor systems with professional dance floor covering, and 12 foot ceilings to accommodate partnering and men's classes.

All of the second level dance studios have over sized windows that overlook downtown Sioux Falls, or some sort of large window that allows natural lighting.  In addition, two of the studios contain vintage French windows that allow observation from the hallway.   Since parents are requested to stay outside of the children's classrooms, all studios have large windows to view the instruction.

Dance Gallery is located downtown Sioux Falls. There is metered parking on the street available to the students and parents.  Meters are in effect from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.  There are several two-hour meters right in front of the studio.  The cost to use the metered on-street parking is 60 cents per hour.  If you are planning on being at the studio for any length of time, we would suggest using one of the parking ramps located one block north of the studio on Main, or the ramp   1 1/2 blocks south of the studio.

 The Orpheum Theater

The Dance Gallery has the privilege to dance in the Historic Orpheum Theater for recital, The Nutcracker Ballet, and other special events each year. It has become our second home.

The Community

Dance Gallery takes many opportunities each year to perform for the community.  The Dance Gallery has performance groups that dance for area festivals and dance exhibitions.  The Liturgical and Home School groups also perform in area churches and nursing homes throughout the year.

OUR AWARD WINNING

DANCERS

Dance Gallery is fortunate to be a part of the lives of many beautiful dancers!  Many are awarded with promotions after successful examination in the Cecchetti program.  Some dancers are awarded in competition. Others are awarded with scholarships to highly regarded dance schools.  Perhaps the most special award is the full Dance Gallery scholarship given to one or two seniors each year: The Reverence Award.

Take a look at "News and Notes" for the latest success stories!

Maggie G. and Megan A. are the 2008-2009 Reverence Award winners.  The award consists of free tuition for the entire school year with unlimited classes.  Recipients are chosen based on their devotion to and love for dance, outstanding conduct, merit, and exemplary standards as a student of Dance Gallery.

RULES AND POLICIES

Our  goal is to provide the highest quality dance instruction and to uphold a professional caliber.  Whether a student is pursuing a dance career or just wanting the finest instruction for recreational purposes, Dance Gallery is the studio of choice.  We want your experiences here to be educational, inspirational, and fun.  Dancing is an athletic activity as much as it is an art form, so to maintain a students well being as well as preserve the integrity of the studio, the forthright adherence to rules and policies is highly regarded.  Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the rules and policies.

  • No gum, food, or colored drink of any kind allowed in the classrooms (plain water is invited in the classrooms)
  • Students are expected to be early to class.  For all children's classes, students are asked to wait outside of the classroom until the teacher or assistant has invited them into class.  For older students, if the classroom is available for warm up time, we encourage you to quietly warm up in the class...as long as another class is NOT in session.
  • Dance Gallery is not set up to "police" rides to and from dance class.  We will do our best to make sure that students return to their parents in the hallway.  If your child needs to wait for a ride, we insist that students wait inside the dance studio doors for safety purposes, as we are not able to control situations which occur outside of our business doors.
  • Since Dance Gallery is located in a primarily commercial center, we request that students bring clothing to wear over dance clothes, rather than having them walk down the street with only their tights and leotards worn on the body.
  •  Historically, Dance Gallery has not found it necessary to address this issue, but this is worth mentioning.  Our studio is built on the foundation of encouraging each other to do their best.  With anything, a bit of competition is understandable, but we feel it is necessary to mention that we request that all students of Dance Gallery uphold exemplary character, treat others (students/teachers/parents/office staff) with respect, and encourage positive interaction with classmates.  Degrading comments, swearing, stealing, and harming others verbally or physically is grounds for removal from Dance Gallery.
